trying to get into med school
As of now I am 21 years old and junior in college and one of my goals in life is to be a Doctor. Although I am majoring in constructiong engineering, I am getting a minor in Biological Sciences. I came down here to USM to pursue a career in construction, but like most students I didn't have a clue in what I was truely passionate about. After finding my passion in medicine, I found out that most medical schools would rather have students with (example:) art majors appling, rather than pre-med. From what I found, med. schools like having incoming students diversed degrees, but all med school have the same pre-requists: 6 hours of a english, 8 hours of general physics, 8 hours of general biology and chemistry, and 4 hours of organic chemistry with an undergrade of your choice. After doing the research, I found out how hard it is to get into med school and there are 3 aspects that med schools look at. One is you overall GPA, your MCAT score, and the interview with the med school you are appling for. I also found out that the more letters of recomadation you have by Doctors, the better and mostly, who you know, not what you know. Over 16,000 college students apply for medical schools across the country and it is a very competive process. At USC, over 7,000 students applied and only 162 students got in last year. With all the years of schooling and training, I am debating on weather I want to go through this process. Even at the age of 21 I still do not know what I want to do with my life. I don't know if I am just scared because I know that the real world is appoaching very soon or I am affraid that I am going to be putting in so much time and money into something I am going to hate 5 years from now. Every body I talk to you that is over the age of 30 says that every year from the age of 20 on, your mind set and views change as you get older. So something I love now, might change into something I hate. If I had to do things over, I probaly would of worked for 4 years, waited till I got older and wiser to pursue a career that I will love for the rest of my life.

School
I was thinking today about why do we go to college. Is it because our parents force us, to pursue a career, or do it because everyone else is. I was thinking about how much money we spend on every aspect of school. Sure if you just look on your soar account, it will tell you how much your school is, but you have think about every thing else that requires money: gas, clothes, rent, car maintence, books, food, air conditioning, beer!!! If you look at any college and you were to totally everything it cost to go to school, take USM for instance, I bet it cost me over 30,000 dollars a year (with tution) just to survive the school year times four years, that would be, 120,000 dollars! If I were to take that money and invest it, I could triple my money in that four years. I think that college is totally a business. Think of all the wastefull classes that you have to take that cost at least 600 dollars not including books. It is insane and plus, when most people get out of college, they don't even pursue a career they majored in. I think that students in highschool are pressured so much about college they totally forget why they are even going. I could remember being 14, a freshman in highschool and my teachers telling me to start thinking about college, I am 21 years old and I do not have a damn clue what I want to do with my life. If I had to do it all over, I would take a loan out for the cost of college, invest it, while working construction making 37 dollars a hour living at home and make millions!!! I read an intresting fact that 97% of all people hate what they do for a living. so why go to college? But I know the answer why, it tests you, it makes you who you are!

My next paper
I have been thinking what would be a good topic for my next paper. I was thinking about something that has happened to me personally. I have firm believe that southern miss treats their students like crap. I believe that the univeristy should reach out to its students and not students reaching out to the school. We pay a ton of money and I think that USM is always looking for someway to screw its students out of their money anyway possible. From parking, to get scholarships, to anything here on campus. Coming from the north, I have been to bigger and better schools and the way they do things is totally different. I just don't get some of USM's way of doing things and how they invest their money or I should say, MY MONEY!!! If I decided to do a paper on an event that has happened with me and this school, I feel it would probally consist of all opinon. I don't know how I could find out different finicial facts about the school. I think it would be a great paper, with not a lot of research. I just feel that someone needs to come out and really state how they feel about this school and as a costumer of this school I believe I have the ability to complain what is going wrong with this school and I am quite sure there are many other students out there that feel the same way.

Watching MTV
I was watching the real world and Rob and Big, I love both shows, but I have always wondered how does somebody get their own TV show. Paula Abdula just her own show and I think that any body lives a more interesting life than she does. I feel that there are so many stupid reality shows, but I some how always find myself being sucked in to most reality shows, but there are so many crapy TV shows! It amazes me how america loves these shows, but will it ever stop? I mean there are only so many different TV shows that someone can come up with. Great dramatic shows like Soprano's is a show that could never be recreated being passed off as another Mob show! I think that is what makes that show so great is the fact it was completely orginal and different that no show could come close in comparisent!!! I know this is totally off the subject, but I can not wait till tomarrow's release of DIE HARD!!!!!

Just another day
I am just sitting here in my room just chilling, thinking about something to write. But there is something that has been on my mind, this paper and all of the stuff I have to get done. I feel that I am going in the right direction, I actually really like doing this paper because it give me a excuse to watch a lot of episodes of Soprano's. I was also thinking today how stupid I was for taking classes this summer, I put so much time and energy to make straight A's that I wore myself out. I feel no anabition to do any school work, does anyone else feel the same?

Rough Draft posting

Change paper
Grasping the cold steel handle with tight firm grip ever so focus holding a nine mm. pistol to someone’s head because of the debt owed to you as they beg for mercy, and without hesitation, you pull the trigger. This is just another day of life of the character Tony Soprano, a New Jersey mob boss in the critically acclaimed television show, “The Soprano’s.” His major ambitions, according to his perspective were that of any other human, to be successful. His definition of successful meant that people had to die to become the position of boss to run the best crew possible. His interaction among other people was a very powerful and demanding one. Destin to be the prodigy of his father, Tony’s whole life from when he was born was the lifestyle of organized crime. Up until the sixth season of “Soprano’s,” Tony’s lifestyle consisted of murder, money, and lust. It was until episode four of season six, when Tony awakened from his coma after the result of being shot from the interaction of his uncle did he realize the meaning of life. One of the hardest things in life to do is to change our way of living and perceiving life that determine our lifestyles. Usually the only time we change the way we are is when something horrific has happened in our life, such as an aunt or uncle dying of lung cancer cause from smoking, might change your choice in picking up that next cigarette. In the story, “Cathedral,” written by Raymond Carver, the main character experiences the same life changing out come due to the interaction of a blind staying in his house. The severities are different, but the principles are the same, between Tony and the main character of “Cathedral.” In the beginning the similarity of human interaction between Tony Soprano’s lifestyle and that of the main character in, “Cathedral,” are same until an event in their life’s change their way of viewing life.

The Last Soprano's episode
This past Sunday, I was very upset with the ending of the greatest show known to man. I own every season on DVD and I watch the show every Sunday at eight o'clock religiously. Every episode is pack with a whole hour of drama and action except the very last episode. The entire episode was filled of just boring crap like a stupid orange cat that Pauly was angry at. I thought that the writers of the show would want to go out with a bang. The show is arguably one of the best shows ever to hit the T.V. screen. I understand were David Chase (the creator) was trying to go with the last episode, but forget all of the intellecual crap were the audience has think outside of the box to see the picture. People want to see action, people want to see someone get their head blown off. The best part according to some news papers, was when Phil got wacked outside of a gas station and watching his own car roll over his head. People love drama, action, and crazy twists on a show, that is why Soprano's is one of the best shows because it contains all three. There were a lot of open ends when the show ended, like: what happened with the Russian's or why was Tony talking to that FBI agent, was he going to "roll" on everyone or was it just to get information on Phil? David Chase said that he wanted this episode to be as if it were in the middle of a season, he wanted everyone to see that Tony will live the "MOB" lifestyle the rest of his life and will have to watch his back every were he goes. Well it sounds like a great ending, WRONG, people don't want an epic ending where the saga lives on, if it is the last episode forever, make it the best, most twisted, most killing, most drama episode ever, that is what people want. As college student, I saw where David Chase was going, but my other side said that was the worst episode ever. I hate when writers of a show or movie make you go insane because there is no closesure. It makes you think to much. Every episode of Soprano's before season six is black and white, none of this hidden message bull crap. It is a mob show, not Days of our Lives!!!!
